The Fool’s Lantern is St. Michaels' first and only self-serve wine and taproom. Our self-serve drink wall features 12 beers and 24 wines, paired with a menu consisting of a variety of tapas, charcuterie, sandwiches, dips, and desserts. Customers can sample a selection of wine and beer, each dispensed at the push of a button. This unique, self-serve option lets the customers select a sip, a taste, or a glass, allowing them to discover what they like best. Once they find their favorite, guests can enjoy a glass or more, order from the menu, and even purchase bottles to take home. Our drink wall will change periodically so you’ll never have the same experience twice!
We have 2 televisions, seating for 48 inside, drink rails for standing and socializing, and seating out front. Please contact us if you’d like to reserve our space for a private event. We are open for lunch and dinner, and breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays!
What’s behind the name “The Fool’s Lantern?”
Famously dubbed “The Town that Fooled the British,” Saint Michaels received this tagline by thwarting a British invasion during the War of 1812. The residents brilliantly hung lanterns above town to misdirect gunfire, sending British cannon volley far above their intended targets.
Fast forward more than 200 years and we are still celebrating the wily nature and independent spirit of this little town we all love! At The Fool’s Lantern the history’s close and the odds of a successful British incursion are still pretty slim!
